My name is Alek. Throughout my life, I have
always had some kind of pet in my home. Whether it be cats,
dogs, snakes, turtles, aquarium fishes, or rescued wild birds,
caring for animals has always been an interest of mine. My
interest in bird keeping comes from childhood watching birds in
the nature. It was so curious to find a nest of unknown bird and
keep close look on the life around it. So when I got possibility
to have a pet at home, my first choice was birds. But there are
so many different birds to choose from. Some of them like canary
have amazing song. The others look so fancy you cannot take your
eyes away. Another interesting thing available with home birds
is breeding, and birds with color mutations like parakeets,
cocktails, canary and some finches are of special interest for
this purpose. Saying honestly, I tried to keep and breed
parakeets and canaries and have success, but gave up tired of
their noise. Finches, however, do not stop cause my joy. Currently, I am a finch enthusiast, with a longstanding
interest in finch genetics, I also hold a degree in Genetics. |
